A renewed sense of direction and purpose filled the grounds of the 802nd Infantry (Peerless) Brigade as soldiers, officers, and civilian partners gathered on November 8, 2025, to welcome its 28th Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Pompeyo Jason M. Almagro, during a solemn yet hopeful Change of Command Ceremony.
The event, presided over by Major General Adonis Ariel G. Orio, Commander of the 8th Infantry (Stormtroopers) Division, marked the formal relinquishment of command by Colonel Rico O. Amaro, who was commended for his steady leadership as Acting Brigade Commander.
In his address to the troops and various stakeholders, BGen Almagro underscored a leadership philosophy anchored in humility and service.
“Leadership is not about authority; it is about genuine service, unwavering commitment, and deep compassion,” he stressed, pledging to strengthen the unit’s operational readiness and enhance its ability to respond not only to security threats but also to the immediate needs of local communities.
Highlighting the vital connection between military duty and civilian well-being, BGen Almagro reaffirmed that the Peerless Brigade will remain steadfast in its mission to serve the people and protect the community—principles he believes are essential for achieving lasting peace. A staunch advocate of collaborative governance, he committed to fostering strong partnerships with Local Government Units, law enforcement agencies, and civilian organizations, emphasizing that “peace and security are shared responsibilities.”
This approach, he added, will be rooted in cooperation and open dialogue, both of which are indispensable to the stability and resilience of Eastern Visayas.
As the colors were passed and responsibilities formally transferred, it became evident that the Peerless Brigade is entering a new chapter—one dedicated not merely to securing territories, but to uplifting and empowering the communities that call Eastern Visayas home.
