BASEY, Samar – Brgy. Amandayehan was transformed into a vibrant display of civic pride on October 24, 2025, as the Regional Showcase of Kalinisan Day brought together residents, students, and government agencies in a spectacular demonstration of community solidarity.

The event expanded on the town’s weekly BARKADA Clean-Up Activity, elevating the local commitment to “kalimpyo ug kahimyang” (cleanliness and peacefulness) into a regional celebration of cooperation and civic responsibility.

A notable aspect of the showcase was the significant presence of uniformed personnel. Members of the Basey MPS, PNP-SAF, Basey Fire Station, BJMP, 63rd Infantry Battalion, and the Philippine Coast Guard actively participated, symbolizing the government’s dedication to community welfare and supporting residents in their collective mission.

In addition to security forces, the initiative heavily relied on civil collaboration with the DILG Basey office under MLGOO Zino Llarinas, who coordinated the activity, while schools from Basey 1 and 2 Districts helped educate young participants on the importance of sanitation and civic responsibility.

At the core of the effort was Brgy. Amandayehan, led by Punong Barangay Monchito A. Lacaba, whose council and residents worked together to ensure a successful and meaningful event.

The showcase also saw active involvement from municipal officials. Vice-Mayor Hon. Honesto M. Zeta participated in the cleanup, reflecting the administration’s strong support, which Mayor Luz Chu-Ponferrada reiterated as part of her ongoing dedication to community cleanliness and peace.

Mayor Ponferrada emphasized the spirit of the event, stating, “Kalinisan Day is more than cleaning our streets—it is about fostering pride, responsibility, and unity in our communities. Today, Basey has demonstrated that together, we can achieve remarkable results.”

The Regional Showcase in Brgy. Amandayehan serves as an inspiring example of how residents and government agencies can come together for a common goal, setting a standard for civic engagement and public service throughout the region.
