BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar — The Local Government Unit of Can-avid kicked off its celebration of National Arts Month with the opening of a vibrant art exhibit on February 16, 2026. The exhibit, themed “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting” (Harvest of Art: Truth and Valor), celebrates the creativity and cultural richness of the community.
The exhibit features the works of talented local artists, including Samuel L. Goden and Neil Patrick Obana, who use their art to express the realities, experiences, and cultural identity of the Can-avidnon people.
According to the organizers, each artwork reflects the artists’ skill and courage in conveying their messages and perspectives through their chosen medium. The exhibit offers a powerful glimpse into the community’s spirit and its artistic soul.
The opening event was well-attended by town officials, led by Mayor Alicia L. Teves, as well as representatives from local schools, universities, and the provincial tourism office, including Dr. Neil Alejandro Pinarok. Their presence underscored their support for local arts and culture, highlighting the importance of artistic expression in community development.
