Dagami Police Nab Suspected Drug Pusher in Buy-Bust Operation

DAGAMI, Leyte — A 45-year-old farmer was apprehended in a sting operation carried out by the Dagami Municipal Police Station’s Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) on March 10, 2026, in Barangay Calipayan, Dagami, Leyte.

Police Captain Rexel De Asis, the chief of police in Dagami, spearheaded the operation and identified the individual as Nestor (not his real name), a resident of the mentioned barangay who was listed as a Street-Level Individual (SLI) involved in illegal drug activities.

Police Staff Sergeant Ursulino M. Lerios Jr. posed as the buyer during the operation with the assistance of a confidential informant. Lerios successfully purchased a sachet of suspected shabu from the individual in exchange for a marked P500 bill.

Following the transaction, the signal was given, leading other policemen positioned nearby to apprehend the suspect. During a body search conducted by Lerios, three additional sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu were confiscated from the individual’s possession.

The individual was informed of the reasons for the arrest and advised of their rights under the Miranda Doctrine, including the right to a physical examination under the Anti-Torture Act of 2009.

The suspect is currently in police custody, and charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied for submission to the prosecutor’s office.
