TACLOBAN CITY — 105 applicants were hired on the spot during the 2026 Mega Job Fair held on March 13 at the Tacloban City Convention Center (Astrodome), opening up employment opportunities for job seekers.
The job fair, organized by the Tacloban City Public Employment Service Office in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Migrant Workers, and Eastern Visayas State University, attracted 1,368 job seekers looking for work in various industries.
Throughout the event, applicants crowded the venue, visiting booths and exploring job openings from 57 local industries and six overseas recruitment agencies.
Government-to-government employment opportunities were also available through the Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services.
The Mega Job Fair aims to connect employers with job seekers and provide access to local and overseas job opportunities for Tacloban residents.
The successful turnout and immediate hiring demonstrate the ongoing demand for employment and the significance of job-matching efforts in the city.
Another large-scale job fair is scheduled for October 2026, offering additional opportunities for job seekers in the region. — Rialin Lauderes, NwSSU Intern
