40K Shabu Seized by Tacloban Police

TACLOBAN CITY — A man suspected to be a new player in the local illegal drug trade was apprehended by the Tacloban City Police Office Station 1 during a buy-bust operation at around 9:35 p.m. on April 6, 2026, in Barangay 74, Nula-Tula, Tacloban City.

The individual, known as alias “Noynoy,” aged 47, single, and a former construction worker, was caught after allegedly selling suspected illegal drugs to undercover officers of the Station Drug Enforcement Team.

According to authorities, the operation was initiated based on surveillance indicating the suspect’s involvement in drug distribution in the area.

During the operation, law enforcement confiscated four heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing a total of 5.9 grams with an estimated street value of P40,120.

Additionally, a marked P500 bill used as buy-bust money was recovered and will be used as evidence in the forthcoming legal proceedings.

The suspect is currently under the custody of Tacloban City Police Station 1 as charges for violating Sections 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act 9165 are being readied.

Police Major Kent Rivas, the station commander, emphasized the police force’s commitment to combating illegal drugs in the city and urged the public to report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
