STA. RITA, Samar — The Philippine Army’s 8th Civil-Military Operations (Dangpanan) Battalion (8CMOB) conducted a lecture on January 4, 2026, at its headquarters in Sta. Rita, Samar. The lecture focused on the Revised 2025 Social Media Policy, aiming to promote responsible and professional online behavior among personnel.
The session emphasized what information should not be shared on social media, highlighting the importance of safeguarding sensitive operational details that could impact the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Participants were reminded that online posts, photos, and comments can have real-world consequences for military operations and public trust. The battalion emphasized the shared responsibility for information protection and its crucial role in maintaining military discipline.
The lecture also emphasized that a soldier’s conduct on social media reflects not only on the individual but also on the entire institution. Ethical and cautious use of online platforms was emphasized to maintain the credibility, integrity, and image of the AFP.
The battalion’s ongoing program aims to raise awareness of digital risks and ensure personnel maintain discipline both on and off duty, according to lecturer Cpl. Jeneva G Moreno.
“The 8CMOB is dedicated to upholding professional standards in the digital realm, recognizing the significance of responsible online behavior in modern military service,” 8CMOB statement said.
