TACLOBAN CITY — The people of Leyte are filled with pride as Christina Vanhefflin, who was named Mutya ng Pilipinas Intercontinental 2025, is set to showcase her beauty, talent, and advocacy as a Filipina to the world through the Miss Intercontinental 2025 pageant in Sahl Hasheesh, Egypt.

The event will be held in 2026, but it will still formally be known as the 2025 pageant, which is a common practice in international pageants .

Vanhefflin, 22, is a native of Tacloban City and locally, she is a well-known figure not just because of her striking beauty but also because of her educational achievements and her advocacy work.

She graduated in Communications from one of the top universities in the Philippines, and has been actively participating in various youth leadership programs and community projects, especially those that focus on education and women’s empowerment.

Her close friends and teachers say that she is a down-to-earth, kind, and ambitious person, traits that she intends to share with the world.

“Going to the world stage isn’t only about getting a crown,” Vanhefflin shared. “It’s about being a representative of Leyte, motivating young women, and turning this opportunity to bring about change.”

The Miss Intercontinental Pageant, which began in 1971, is among the world’s oldest international beauty competitions. It features contestants from around 60 to 63 countries and territories and promotes cultural understanding, global sisterhood, and goodwill.

Moreover, the pageant goes beyond the physical to emphasize qualities such as intelligence, confidence, cultural awareness, and the ability to inspire. These are the traits Vanhefflin has demonstrated through her community involvement and her use of the public platform.

She is set to take part in the Miss Intercontinental grand final in Egypt on January 29, 2026, where she will fight for the highly desired crown. The winners, along with the top finalists, are normally awarded a crown and sash that are specially made for them, as well as opportunities for international exposure, media appearances, brand partnerships, and advocacy projects. Although the pageant doesn’t put much emphasis on big cash prizes, it offers a powerful platform for worldwide representation and social change.

Leyte Governor Jericho Icot Petilla, in a Facebook post, shared his support for the move:

“Congratulations to Christina Vanhefflin of Leyte, our Mutya ng Pilipinas Intercontinental 2025, from the bottom of my heart. We are all excited to see you represent the Philippines in Egypt at Miss Intercontinental 2025, so know that we’re rooting for you. May you radiate confidence and pride. Wishing you the best! “

Vanhefflin sees the pageant as a double opportunity; it is both a significant moment in her life and a chance to bring honor to her province, Leyte. She is the latest in a line of beauty queens from Leyte who trace their legacy through her rising star and who have gotten national and international spotlights.
