Tacloban City, Leyte — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Northern Samar and Eastern Samar as of February 7, 2026, at 11 a.m.
PAGASA has released Heavy Rainfall Warnings and other severe weather advisories specifically for these areas. In addition to Northern and Eastern Samar provinces, provinces like Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Oriental Mindoro, Albay, and Catanduanes are also expected to experience heavy rain.
The heavy rainfall is anticipated to be most intense in mountainous and elevated regions, with some areas potentially facing increased risks due to previous substantial rainfall.
PAGASA clarified that a Heavy Rainfall Warning indicates expected rainfall within the next three hours and is issued at the municipal level to allow local authorities and residents to prepare for potential flooding or landslides.
Residents are advised to stay updated through official weather announcements and take the necessary safety measures. — Rodalyn Silva, BS DevCom Intern, The Vanguard
