BASEY, Samar — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Samar 2nd District Engineering Office officially handed over a newly constructed municipal police station to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Basey, Samar on February 23, 2026.
The turnover ceremony held at the new police facility included a traditional blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by government officials and law enforcement leaders. Local officials hailed the project as a crucial investment in enhancing security and supporting economic growth in the town.
The modern police station is designed to provide a safer and more suitable working environment for police personnel, improving operational efficiency and response capabilities in the community.
The upgraded facility aims to strengthen cooperation between the police and residents, boost officer morale and enhance public trust in government institutions. The completion and turnover of the project demonstrate the successful collaboration between national agencies, local government, and stakeholders committed to community stability and institutional development.
The event was graced by various national and local officials, including representatives from Samar’s 2nd District, the Tingog Party-List, Police Regional Office 8, and the Samar Police Provincial Office.
Mayor Ponferrada emphasized the new police station’s significance in showcasing the national government’s support for local communities and Basey’s dedication to ensuring peace and safety for all.
The improved police infrastructure is expected to elevate Basey as a secure and progressive municipality in the province.
