TACLOBAN CITY — Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon clarified on March 10, 2026, that the program of works for the major rehabilitation of the Maharlika Highway will remain unchanged. He emphasized that DPWH remains committed to completing the project as scheduled.
However, Secretary Dizon acknowledged that the department is flexible and prepared to make adjustments, especially considering the recent spike in oil prices caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Despite these challenges, he assured that DPWH can adapt and manage the project within the existing budget by considering variations in costs such as fuel and materials.
He reiterated that the department is determined to continue its work and deliver the infrastructure project without delay, even as they navigate fluctuations in prices. The focus remains on ensuring the timely and efficient rehabilitation of Maharlika Highway to benefit the region and its motorists.
Secretary Dizon’s statement reassures the public that the project’s progress is still on track and that DPWH is capable of managing the changing economic landscape to achieve its goals.
