CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar — A 37-year-old construction worker was stabbed in a dispute over an unpaid debt on March 20, 2026, in Purok 1, Barangay 13.
The victim, known as alias “Jimboy,” and a resident of the same barangay, suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for urgent medical care.
According to police findings, the victim visited the home of one of the suspects to collect a debt that had been owed for some time. The situation escalated into an argument, resulting in the stabbing.
The suspects, identified as brothers, are alias “Niko,” 20, a construction worker from Barangay 13, and alias “Biboy,” 23, a delivery worker from Barangay Mercedes. Another brother, alias “Niño,” 21, who is also a delivery worker from Barangay 13, is considered an accomplice and is currently evading capture.
The Catbalogan City Police Station, led by Andres C. Samantila Jr. II and supervised by Norman D. Ala, conducted an investigation and apprehended the two main suspects on the same day at around 10 p.m.
Efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the third suspect.
Meanwhile, the victim’s condition has not been disclosed, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
