TANAUAN CITY, Leyte — The Tanauan Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Office distributed the second round of financial aid to families whose homes were destroyed by Typhoon Tino in November 2025.
The distribution occurred in Barangay Bislig on March 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., where beneficiaries gathered to receive P10,000 each under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.
This financial assistance is part of a P30,000 total aid package per eligible household, to be given in three parts. The first tranche was distributed in January 2026, with the final release expected at a later date, as per local officials.
MSWD staff, in collaboration with barangay officials, managed the organized distribution and verification of beneficiaries to ensure that the aid reached the intended recipients. Priority was given to families whose homes were deemed completely damaged in post-typhoon assessments.
Pedro Catudio, a resident of Barangay Calsadahay, mentioned that the financial aid has been crucial in helping families start rebuilding their homes and meeting their daily needs. He noted that beneficiaries are eagerly awaiting the schedule for the last installment of assistance.
Local authorities emphasized that the continuous distribution of aid demonstrates the government’s dedication to supporting recovery efforts in communities severely impacted by Typhoon Tino. They also reassured residents that monitoring and validation processes are in place to ensure transparency and proper allocation of funds.
Typhoon Tino hit parts of Leyte in late 2025, causing extensive damage to homes and infrastructure, especially in low-lying and coastal barangays. Recovery initiatives are ongoing as affected families gradually restore their lives with the assistance of government aid programs.
