BILIRAN, Biliran — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Biliran District Engineering Office is making progress on its Drainage and Landslide Wall project along the road connecting Caucab to the rice fields of Almeria, Biliran.

As part of the Slope Protection Project, the DPWH is building a 515.16-meter slope protection structure covering a total area of 2,907 square meters. The project aims to strengthen sections of the road prone to landslides due to the mountainous terrain in the area, providing safer access for residents and farmers who transport abaca fiber, rice, and other agricultural products.

District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio highlighted in an interview on March 14, 2026, that the project focuses on addressing the recurring landslide threat in the area.

He stated, “Once finished, this slope protection structure, complete with barriers and drainage canals, will greatly enhance road safety and safeguard both residents and farmers.”

As of February 28, 2026, the project is 74.91 percent complete, with ongoing work to ensure timely completion and enhance safety for all road users.
