Palo, Leyte – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 8 is continuing its inspection of public utility vehicles to make sure students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities PWDs receive the correct fare discounts.
During an interview with Vanguard News on May 26, 2026, LTFRB Region 8 spokesperson Veronica Reposar said qualified passengers are entitled to a 20 percent discount, with an additional 20 percent reduction for a total of 40 percent.
Reposar said LTFRB inspectors conduct daily inspections of passenger vehicles to check if drivers and operators are properly giving the required discounts.
The agency also monitors overloaded vehicles and other transport violations to help ensure the safety of commuters.
According to Reposar, the LTFRB continues to assist drivers, operators, and passengers through programs such as fuel subsidies and the public transportation modernization program.
She also advised the public to report complaints and violations directly to the LTFRB office, so immediate action can be taken.
