Tacloban City — Two drivers were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 97 Cabalawan here on Tuesday afternoon, October 6, 2026, with police recovering around five grams of suspected shabu worth an estimated P34,000.
Police identified the suspects as alias “Julz,” 42, and alias “Terong,” 57. Both are single and residents of the barangay.
The operation was carried out by the Tacloban City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit (TCPO-CPDEU), led by PLt. Alberto R. Canonigo Jr., under the supervision of Acting City Director PCOL Marben M. Ordonia.
Police said the operation was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 8 (PDEA RO8).
Four heat-sealed sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu were recovered. Police said one of the sachets was the subject of the drug transaction, while the three others were recovered from the suspects.
Also seized were a blue Marlboro cigarette pack and the buy-bust money, consisting of a genuine P500 bill and a bogus P1,000 bill.
The recovered substance weighed approximately five grams and was valued at around P34,000 based on the Dangerous Drugs Board valuation.
Police said the seized items were marked and inventoried at the scene in the presence of the suspects and witnesses, as required by law.
The two suspects are facing possible charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Police are preparing the filing of criminal complaints against the suspects.
