KANANGA, Leyte — Emotions ran high in Kananga, Leyte, as families, parents, and students gathered on November 14 for a graduation ceremony celebrating a major milestone— the successful completion of vocational training programs that have opened new doors of opportunity for young Leyteños. The event highlighted the transformative support of the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and its steadfast commitment to empowering the youth.

The ceremony became a heartwarming scene of joy and gratitude. For many of the graduates—especially those from financially struggling families—the moment marked the fulfillment of long-held dreams. Tears, embraces, and proud smiles reflected the deep impact of a program that provided free education and skills training to youth who otherwise lacked the means to pursue higher studies.

A Lifeline for Aspiring Youth

The initiative was made possible through the strong partnership between the Keitech Educational Foundation, Inc. and EDC. Together, the institutions created a pathway for students to gain technical skills, expand their capabilities, and secure future employment, ultimately supporting not only themselves but also their families.

Program facilitators described the journey to graduation as demanding—requiring hard work and sacrifice not only from the organizations but also from the students, who demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and perseverance throughout their training.

Innovation and Continued Support

As part of its renewed commitment to community development, EDC also introduced the “First Gen–EDC” initiative, designed to help youth better understand the programs and opportunities offered by First Gen Energy. The initiative further strengthens EDC’s role in uplifting local communities by creating educational pathways and promoting long-term development.

In her message, Ms. France Loyola, Communications Officer, emphasized EDC’s mission to support every Filipino youth in achieving their dreams.

“Every Filipino youth deserves the chance to pursue their studies and accomplish their dreams. This is why EDC and Keitech continue to help them build their future,” Ms. Loyola said.

Gratitude and New Beginnings

Following the culmination of their training, the graduates and their families expressed deep gratitude to EDC and Keitech for the life-changing opportunity. Many thanked the organizations for their tireless dedication, noting that the support was given with exceptional care and commitment.

For these newly trained graduates, the ceremony was more than just an ending—it marked the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope, potential, and the promise of a brighter future.
