TACLOBAN CITY — A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck near the City of Bogo, Cebu, on April 6, 2026, at 3:22 PM, at a depth of 10 kilometers. The tremor was strongly felt in several areas, including Tacloban City in Leyte, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
Intensity IV was felt in San Francisco, Cebu, as well as in Hilongos and Villaba in Leyte.
Intensity III was reported in Tacloban City; Baybay, Carigara, Abuyog, and Isabel in Leyte; Liloan, Talisay, Cebu City, and Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu; Esperanza in Masbate; and Hinundayan in Southern Leyte.
Intensity II was recorded in Dulag, Alangalang, and Palo in Leyte; Kawayan and Naval in Biliran; and other nearby towns.
Intensity I was felt in other surrounding areas in the Visayas.
Residents in Tacloban and nearby areas are advised to stay vigilant for potential aftershocks and follow safety guidelines.
