TACLOBAN CITY — Approximately 600 families from Barangay 102 Old Kawayan and Barangay 107 Sta. Elena received free vegetables through a distribution program organized by the Office of the President of the Philippines on May 1.
Led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the event took place in the northern area of Tacloban City, as part of the government’s efforts to assist low-income families by providing nutritious food and alleviating household expenses amidst increasing prices of essential items.
Residents were thankful for the aid, stating that the distribution helped lessen their daily costs, particularly with the ongoing rise in food prices. They also appreciated the program for ensuring access to fresh vegetables, which contributes to improved nutrition and health.
Local beneficiaries emphasized that the initiative not only benefits their communities in Tacloban but also demonstrates broader support for vulnerable families nationwide, especially during challenging economic times.
