SAN MIGUEL, Leyte — A Canadian citizen and his Filipina partner sustained injuries after being involved in a traffic accident with two other vehicles along the National Road in Brgy. Canap, San Miguel, Leyte at approximately 7:40 p.m. on May 13.

The foreign national, known as “Dominic,” aged 35 and residing in Langley, British Columbia, Canada, was accompanied by “Xen,” a 21-year-old student, and “Jun,” a 62-year-old senior citizen.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were identified as “Junry” and “Franco,” both residents of San Miguel, Leyte.

Reportedly, the victims’ vehicles were traveling towards San Miguel on the provincial road, while the foreign national was en route from Barugo to Tacloban via San Miguel.

In a statement, PLT Tyron Jayson S. Labordo, Officer-in-Charge of San Miguel MPS, suggested that potential human error and alleged speeding could have led to the accident.

The foreign national and his partner were promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the owners of the damaged vehicles are said to be preparing to press charges against the foreign national, who may be charged with Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Damage to Property.
