TACLOBAN CITY — The upcoming WorldSkills Philippines Eastern Visayas 2026 Regional Skills Olympics will not only test technical know-how but also showcase workers as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Office VII hosts the three-day event from May 19 to 21.

The regional competition will kick off on May 19 at the ACLC College of Tacloban City Inc. Fatima Campus, with contests taking place at various venues in Tacloban City until the closing ceremony on May 21.

This year’s Olympics will feature 20 trade areas, including automotive technology, welding, carpentry, cybersecurity, web technology, cooking, and healthcare, highlighting the diverse technical skills of young workers and graduates from technical vocational institutions in Eastern Visayas.

TESDA stated that the competition serves as a platform to assess Filipino learners’ competencies against international industry standards while promoting innovation, discipline, and excellence in technical vocational education and training.

Partner institutions hosting the competition include the TESDA Regional Training Center-Tacloban, St. Therese Educational Foundation of Tacloban Inc., and JE Mondejar Computer College Inc.

Eastern Visayas has consistently produced strong performers in national and international skills competitions, often earning recognition during the ASEAN Skills Manila competition.

TESDA officials emphasized that the event underscores the agency’s ongoing efforts to develop highly skilled workers capable of competing in the global workforce.
