ORAS, Eastern Samar — A barangay chairman was killed in a stabbing incident in Brgy. Tiguib, Oras, this morning, January 6, 2026.
The victim, identified as alias Nani, 56 years old, was attacked around 7:50 AM while returning home on his motorcycle after dropping off his wife. The suspect, identified as alias Rick, 45 years old, allegedly ambushed the victim and stabbed him with a “dipang” (short sword).
Despite being wounded, the victim tried to seek help but was overtaken by the suspect who stabbed him multiple times in the chest. The victim was declared dead on arrival at Oras Doctor’s Hospital.
Police immediately launched a hot pursuit operation and apprehended the suspect in a remote house in Brgy. Camanga, Oras. Initial investigation points to a “personal grudge” as the motive for the crime.
The suspect is now in custody of the Oras MPS, and appropriate charges are being prepared for filing.
