CAN-AVID, Eastern Samar — Governor Ralph Vincent Evardone of Eastern Samar spearheaded an Agricultural Interventions Distribution event in Can-avid on January 8, 2026, promoting a holistic approach to farming through the use of foliar fertilizer and knapsack sprayers.
The event, with the theme of “Foliar Fertiliser and Knapsack Sprayer for a Holistic Farming”, was conducted in collaboration with the Office of the Provincial Agriculture Services of Eastern Samar, led by Provincial Agriculturist Mr. Vergilio Capon and his staff, and the Office of the Municipal Agriculture Services, led by Dr. Rogelio L. Robedizo Jr, Municipal Agriculturist, and his staff.
The program began with brief orientations on the proper use of organic fertilizers, followed by an open forum where farmers could ask questions and share their experiences. After the orientation, the distribution of agricultural interventions took place.
A total of 17 knapsack sprayers and 1,250 bottles of organic fertilizers were distributed to 250 farmers. This initiative is part of Mayor Alicia Teves’s vision to ensure that local farming is based on sustainable means and that the agriculture sector in Can-avid can grow.
Mayor Teves said he aims to develop more sustainable agricultural services for all farmers in Can-avid, empowering them to increase their yields, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to food security in the province.
“This program is a strong boost to the economy of the community and a great avenue to promote agri-tourism,” Mayor Teves said.
