CAN-AVID, Eastern Samar (January 18, 2026) — The Can-avid Water System is informing its consumers of a disruption in water supply due to a landslide in Brgy. Mabuhay. The landslide occurred on the Mabuhay Mountain Cliff, the location of the water system’s main pipelines.
According to Councilor Bernie Gales, he personally witnessed the landslide and the exposed water pipelines while traveling from Brgy. Balagon towards the town proper.
An inspection by the Water System personnel revealed that the exposed pipeline is located in a precarious and elevated position. This necessitates increased safety precautions, including the use of safety harnesses, for workers undertaking repairs.
A team will be dispatched tomorrow (January 19, 2026) to assess the damage and determine the appropriate repair strategy.
The Can-avid Water System reports that this landslide is the primary reason for the current slow water flow in the town. Consumers are asked for their patience and understanding as the Water System works to restore normal service.
