DULAG, Leyte — The municipality of Dulag formally opened the Dulag Dream Academy on January 17, a new youth development program that combines educational support, sports activities, and basic enterprise training.
The opening was led by Mayor Jade Artates Agullo, along with representatives from partner organizations, local officials, teachers, and community leaders. Local officials stated that the academy is intended to provide children and youth in Dulag with access to learning spaces and development programs beyond regular classroom instruction.
Mayor Agullo mentioned that the project aims to provide all children in the municipality, including those from disadvantaged families, with opportunities to learn, play, and develop skills in a safe environment. He added that the local government considers youth programs a long-term investment for the town.
The Dulag Dream Academy operates under a three-part framework. Its education component focuses on learning support and skills development. The sports component is designed to promote discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness. The enterprise component introduces basic livelihood and entrepreneurial concepts to help build confidence and practical skills among participants.
The project was established through a partnership with FundLife, with support from government agencies, barangay officials, educators, and community volunteers. Mayor Agullo acknowledged the role of teachers and program implementers, stating that their work will be key to sustaining the academy.
Municipal officials mentioned that the academy will serve as a regular venue for youth-focused programs and activities. The local government stated that it will continue supporting similar initiatives as part of its efforts to strengthen education and community development in Dulag.
