TANAUAN, Leyte — The Tanauan local government in Leyte recently conducted the Tanauan Youth Self-Awareness, Social Climate, and Future Readiness Survey as part of its youth development program. The survey involved visiting selected schools to assess and guide students on personal and social issues.
The event took place on March 2, 2026, at Tanauan National High School at 8:00 a.m. Students engaged in discussions and survey activities to enhance their understanding of their roles and responsibilities as young community members.
Municipal councilor Mae Jane Morabe Borais spearheaded the program with support from the Local Government Unit of Tanauan. This initiative is part of the municipality’s efforts to boost youth awareness and equip students for future challenges.
During the visit, Borais covered various crucial topics relevant to the youth, such as family support, emotional security, school and social environment, stress, mental health, pressure, and social issue awareness. Additional topics included self-awareness, life direction, career planning, relationships, partner values, pregnancy and abortion awareness, financial literacy, money management, family independence, life responsibility, decision-making, and its consequences.
Borias also emphasized the importance of the Sangguniang Kabataan and youth participation in community programs and leadership roles.
Through the survey and discussions, the municipal government aims to gain insights into youth concerns and perspectives to develop programs that support their personal growth, well-being and readiness for the future.
