PALAPAG, Northern Samar — A 72-year-old man sustained injuries after being shot by a suspect who reportedly stabbed him in Brgy. Monbon, Palapag, Northern Samar, around 8 p.m. on May 11.
The victim, known as alias “Diony,” 72 years-old and a resident of the said barangay. The suspect, identified as alias “Armani,” 50 years-old, also resides in the area.
According to PCPT Baltazar Cepeda Jr., Chief of Police of Palapag Police Station, the altercation began when the suspect accused the victim of entering a house where a frightened young woman was present.
Tensions escalated when the victim returned with a knife and pursued the suspect, who then drew a gun and fired a single shot, hitting the victim in the left shoulder. The victim was promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Following the incident, the suspect initially fled but later turned himself in to authorities and barangay officials.
PCPT Cepeda noted that the victim has expressed no desire to press charges, while the police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
