• A 72-year-old man was shot and stabbed by a 50-year-old suspect in Brgy. Monbon, Palapag, Northern Samar, on May 11. The victim sustained injuries and both are residents.
• Palapag was awarded the Balangay Seal of Excellence, recognizing its successful, multi-sectoral anti-drug program and status as a drug-free model municipality in Northern Samar.
• The military is pursuing NPA rebels in Northern Samar who fled a November 29 clash. On December 11, troops engaged the fleeing insurgents in two gun battles to subdue them.
