BAYBAY CITY, Leyte — Rich Ian Altejar from Abuyog, Leyte, clinched the silver medal in the Bantamweight Taekwondo category at the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) Meet 2026 held from March 1–7, 2026 in Baybay City, Leyte.
Although he missed out on the gold, Altejar mentioned that he gave his all during the match but faced a tough opponent. He expressed his appreciation to everyone who supported him, including his coaches, teammates, friends, and fans throughout the tournament.
As a student-athlete representing Abuyog, Altejar remains focused on intensifying his training and aims to secure the gold medal in the upcoming year’s competition.
He also advised young athletes to maintain discipline and dedication to their training. Altejar stated, ` Consistent training and physical preparation are essential if you want to achieve success.’
Meanwhile, the Abuyog delegation is actively participating in EVRAA 2026, alongside numerous student-athletes from 13 school divisions in Eastern Visayas, competing in the region’s premier school-based sports event, which also acts as a gateway to the Palarong Pambansa.
