TACLOBAN CITY — A total of P9.6 million in separation gratuity benefits has been distributed to 77 retired Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit Active Auxiliaries (CAAs) in Eastern Visayas by the Philippine Army, acknowledging their service in peace and security operations in conflict-affected communities.
The Division CAFGU Active Auxiliary Office (DCAO) of the 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers” Division facilitated the distribution on April 30, 2026, through various infantry battalions under its command.
The breakdown of the distribution includes P3,736,687 for 30 CAAs from the 93rd Infantry Battalion, P2,682,750 for 22 from the 43rd Infantry Battalion, P1,788,500 for 14 from the 63rd Infantry Battalion, and P1,405,250 for 11 from the 46th Infantry Battalion.
Military records indicate that 73 out of the 77 beneficiaries served for a minimum of eight years, with the remaining completing five to seven years of service.
The gratuity program is part of the government’s commitment to honoring the contributions of CAFGU personnel who acted as force multipliers in maintaining peace and security, especially in remote and conflict-affected regions.
During the distribution, Lieutenant Colonel Ricky James Rosalejos, commanding officer of the 63rd Infantry “Innovator” Battalion, praised the retiring personnel for their support in military operations and community stability.
The assistance provided reflects the Army’s acknowledgment of their dedication and sacrifices in service.
Captain Christopher Tataro (INF) PA, chief of the Division Public Affairs Office of the 8th Infantry Division, emphasized the crucial role of CAFGU auxiliaries in peacekeeping efforts in areas with limited government presence.
The separation gratuity aims to aid former CAAs in transitioning to civilian life by assisting with livelihood, family needs, and small-scale income opportunities.
The 8th Infantry Division continues to recognize the sacrifices of CAFGU personnel and pledges ongoing support for them post-service.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the assistance, seeing it as validation of their service in remote areas where they supported security operations and faced risks in conflict zones.
The Army remains committed to enhancing support programs for former auxiliaries as part of its broader mission to promote peace and community security in Eastern Visayas.
