Salcedo, Eastern Samr —The Local Government Unit of Salcedo has issued Executive Order No. 64, Series of 2026, to regulate the buying price of live hogs and the retail prices of pork and pork products within the municipality.

Signed by Municipal Mayor Hon. Atty. Melchor L. Mergal, the order mandates strict compliance with the prescribed liveweight buying price for hogs and the prevailing market prices for pork. It also establishes guidelines for the proper documentation and monitoring of hog transportation and movement in the area.

The measure is designed to protect the livelihood of local hog raisers, promote fair and transparent trading practices, and prevent unreasonable price manipulation that could burden consumers.

Aside from pricing regulations, the order also strengthens safeguards against animal diseases. Proper documentation and inspection of hog movement will be enforced to prevent the unauthorized entry and spread of African Swine Fever, which continues to pose a risk to the local livestock industry.

The municipal government is calling on hog raisers, buyers, traders, meat vendors, and other stakeholders to cooperate and comply with the new guidelines. Regular monitoring will be conducted to ensure adherence to the order.

LGU Salcedo said it remains committed to supporting the local livestock sector, protecting consumer welfare, and ensuring a fair and sustainable hog industry for the benefit of all residents.
