BAYBAY CITY, Leyte — For the third year in a row, Calbayog City was honored as the Most Disciplined and Organized Contingent at the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) Meet 2026 in Baybay City.
The city’s delegation consisted of 888 student-athletes, coaches, and officials who competed in a variety of sports across more than 15 events, representing Calbayog.
They achieved a 12th place finish in the overall medal count, earning a total of 51 medals, 6 gold, 16 silver and 29 bronze, slightly lower than their previous performance in EVRAA 2025.
Despite not leading in medals, Calbayog’s athletes were praised for their discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, leading to their third consecutive Most Disciplined Contingent award.
Mayor Raymond `MonMon’ Uy emphasized on March 6 that success is not solely about medals but also about the values of discipline, teamwork, and character displayed by the athletes, coaches, educators, and supporters.
Calbayog’s consistent recognition highlights the city’s dedication to nurturing athletes who embody strong character and resilience, not just as competitors.
Looking forward, Calbayog City is preparing to co-host EVRAA 2027 with Catbalogan City, with the goal of continuing to promote discipline and excellence among youth athletes in Eastern Visayas. — Nicole Cabacang, NWSSU, DEVCom, Intern
