CAIBIGA, Samar — A 37-year-old farmer was arrested after police seized several sachets of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calayaan, Calbiga town, on the evening of June 2.
The suspect, identified only by his alias “Yul,” is a married resident of the village.
Police said the operation was carried out around 6:25 p.m. by members of the Samar Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, together with personnel from the Calbiga Municipal Police Station, the 802nd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Eastern Visayas.
Authorities said they recovered one sachet of suspected shabu that was allegedly sold to an undercover officer during the operation. Four more sachets believed to contain shabu were also found in the suspect’s possession.
A marked P500 bill used in the operation was also recovered.
The suspect is now being held at the Calbiga Municipal Police Station while police prepare charges against him for alleged violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
