Police Seize Suspected Shabu, Arrest Suspect in Catbalogan City

CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar — A 22-year-old businessman was arrested on July 9 after police allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover officer during a buy-bust operation in Purok 4, Barangay 4, Pier 2, Catbalogan City.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Rex,” is a resident of Barangay 4 and was listed by police as a Street Level Individual -SLI.

After the arrest, officers recovered six more sachets of suspected shabu, the P500 marked bill used in the operation, and a mobile phone.

Police said the suspected shabu seized from the suspect weighed a total of 1.14 grams with an estimated street value of ₱7,752.

The operation was carried out by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the Catbalogan City Police Station, with support from the Samar Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group. The operation was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Samar.

The suspect was brought to the Catbalogan City Police Station and is facing charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police have not released additional details as the investigation continues.
