Pothole Avoidance Ends in Tricycle-Van Crash in Baybay City

Baybay City, Leyte — A tricycle selling malunggay cheese pandesal collided with a van after attempting to avoid potholes along a road in Baybay City, Leyte, at around 10:00 a.m. on August 3.

The Baybay City Police Station identified the tricycle driver only by the alias Wen, a legal-age resident of the area. The van driver was identified by the alias Christian, also a legal-age resident of the same locality.

According to PSSg. Dioscoro MarCo Tubilla, Chief Investigator of the Baybay City Police Station, the tricycle was traveling toward Albuera when it swerved into the opposite lane to avoid several potholes on the road.

Tubilla said the van was approaching from the opposite direction at the time. The van driver also attempted to evade the tricycle. However, when the tricycle driver noticed the van had also changed lanes, he returned to his original lane, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.

The tricycle driver sustained an injury to his hand, while the van driver was unharmed.

No other motorists were involved in the incident.

Police said the parties later reached an amicable settlement.
