Catbalogan City, Samar — A 40-year-old construction worker was shot in the head while riding his motorcycle in Barangay 10 (Poblacion) here Saturday morning, Aug. 29.
Police identified the victim as “Roy,” a resident of Barangay 1, Salug 1, Catbalogan City. He was shot at around 10:04 a.m.
Based on the initial police investigation, CCTV footage showed Roy riding his motorcycle from the Catbalogan City Public Market toward Barangay San Pablo.
A man then came up from behind him and fired a shot.
The bullet hit the back of Roy’s head, causing him to fall from his motorcycle. The gunman quickly left the area after the shooting.
Roy was brought to Samar Provincial Hospital for treatment.
Police identified the gunman as alias “Tari,” 40, unemployed and a resident of Barangay San Pablo.
Police said the two men had a personal dispute that had been going on for some time.
The Catbalogan City Police Station has launched a hot-pursuit operation to find the suspect.
Police are also checking the CCTV footage and other information to establish what led to the shooting and identify the gun used.
