Tacloban City — A renovated classroom at Lorenzo Daa Memorial School in Barangay 103-A, Paglaum, Tacloban City, was turned over to the school on September 28 following a joint effort by Pacific Partnership 2026 (PP26) and the Philippine Army.
Renovation work began on August 11 to address the classroom’s deteriorated condition. Personnel from the United States Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and the Philippine Army’s 546th Engineer Construction Battalion (546ECB) worked together on the repairs.
The team also repainted the school buildings and perimeter fence and cleaned up and improved the school grounds.
Sonia Cabalona, Education Program Specialist for Partnership and Linkages of the Department of Education (DepEd) Tacloban City Division, thanked the groups involved for choosing Lorenzo Daa Memorial School as one of the beneficiaries of the project.
She said the renovated classroom would provide students with a safer and more comfortable place to learn.
The project is part of PP26’s community activities, which bring together military personnel from partner countries to carry out projects that benefit local residents.
