DOLORES, Eastern Samar – Mayor Zaldy Robin Carpeso and Vice Mayor Niño Robin Carpeso of Dolores, Eastern Samar visited the heavily flooded Barangay Caglao-an in the wake of Tropical Depression Wilma on December 6, 2025.
Barangay Caglao-an was one of the areas hardest hit by the resulting floods and heavy rains following Wilma’s initial landfall on Hilabaan Island in Dolores.
Accompanied by Barangay Captain Gloria C. Anacio, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) Head Ermaliza Campomanes, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Municipal Engineer Engr. Agustin Tegio, OIC Municipal Tourism Officer Jean Clauvin B. Rosales, and other barangay officials, the group conducted a thorough assessment of the situation faced by families in the barangay. This on-the-ground evaluation was aimed at ensuring that affected residents receive prompt and appropriate assistance.
During an impromptu gathering, the local leaders prioritized actively listening to the concerns and needs of the community, engaging in dialogues and extending greetings to the residents. The approach aimed to foster a direct connection between the government and those impacted by the disaster.
Mayor Carpeso and Vice Mayor Carpeso also personally distributed relief goods to families affected by the flooding and storm damage. This direct delivery of aid demonstrated the local government’s commitment to providing immediate support to those in need.
As the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dolores and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) continue to monitor the effects of Tropical Depression Wilma, the public is urged to remain vigilant, adhere to official advisories, and prepare for potential increases in wind and rainfall. The local government continues to work hard on mitigation plans and support for the victims of the storm.
