Oras, Eastern Samar (January 22, 2026) – Demonstrating his unwavering support for local farmers and the agricultural sector, Cong. Sheen Gonzales joined the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Office 8 in distributing the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund – Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) to 1,403 farmers from the northern municipalities of Eastern Samar. The distribution took place at the Libanan Gym in Oras, Eastern Samar.
The event was a collaborative effort, with the participation of Governor RV Evardone, Provincial Agriculturist Virgilio Capon, and the local government of Oras, led by Vice Mayor Adolfo Mugas and members of the Sangguniang Bayan. PCL President and Board Member Irvin Pormida, as well as representatives from DA Regional Office 8, were also present.
Cong. Gonzales expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to stand alongside the province’s valued farmers, emphasizing his commitment to championing their interests in Congress.
He highlighted the ongoing efforts in Congress to strengthen the agricultural sector and ensure that farmers receive the support they need. Together with House Minority Leader and 4Ps Partylist Representative, Cong. Nonoy Libanan continues to advocate for legislation that is tailored to the specific needs of Eastern Samar.
Cong. Gonzales also paid tribute to the hardworking farmers, recognizing their crucial role in the community.
In partnership with the provincial government led by Governor RV Evardone, he pledged to continue striving for the betterment of the people of Eastern Samar. “Mabuhay ang ating mga magsasaka!” he exclaimed.
