GUIUAN, Eastern Samar — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Guiuan Sub-Station has issued a notice to mariners following the disappearance of two teenagers in the waters near Calicoan Island, Guiuan, on February 28, 2026.
Initial reports indicate that the teenagers were swimming in the Calicoan waters when they were swept away by a strong current. One of their companions managed to escape and promptly alerted the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Guiuan, triggering an immediate response from authorities.
The missing teenagers have been identified as Irish Christian Quisada, 15 years old, a resident of Brgy. Cantahay, Guiuan and Kyke Baguinon, 14 years old, resident of Barangay 11, Guiuan
The PCG has urged all mariners, fisherfolk, and vessels in the area to stay vigilant and assist in the search efforts by reporting any sightings or relevant information to the PCG Guiuan Sub-Station or the MDRRMO Guiuan.
Search and rescue operations are currently underway, with coordinated efforts from the PCG, local disaster response teams, and community volunteers. Authorities are closely monitoring sea conditions as they continue their efforts to locate the missing teenagers.
