What started as an extension office under LTO Borongan has now been elevated to a full district office, following the approval of Republic Act No. 12163 in April 2025. The new status means residents of Dolores and nearby areas will no longer need to travel to Borongan for most land transportation transactions.
Dolores Vice Mayor Sonny Carpeso expressed heartfelt gratitude during the ceremony, noting that the establishment of the district office fulfills a long-held aspiration of the people of Dolores. “This has been a dream we’ve carried for years, and today it finally becomes a reality for our community,” he stated.
The inauguration drew a large gathering of local and provincial leaders, including Minority Leader and 4Ps Partylist Representative Cong. Marcelino Libanan, Eastern Samar Lone District Representative Cong. Sheen Gonzales, and Governor Ralph Vincent “RV” Evardone. Also present were Dolores Mayor Zaldy Carpeso, Mayor Shonny Nino Carpeso, and Board Members Atty. Byron Suyot, Timmy Campomanes, and Irvin Pormida, along with other provincial officials.
Representatives from national government agencies also attended, such as CHED Region 8 Director Maximo Aljibe, LTO Region 8 Director Atty. Ledwino R. Macariola, Assistant Regional Director Eden Josefina M. Quebec, LTO Dolores District Head Gavino Anacio, as well as other district heads, employees from LTO Dolores District Office, and staff from the LTO Regional Office 8.
The new district office is expected to streamline services including driver’s license applications and renewals, vehicle registration, and other land transportation-related transactions – bringing greater convenience and efficiency to thousands of residents in the area.
