Catbalogan City, Samar – A suspected High Value Individual (HVI) was arrested during a buy bust operation conducted by the Catbalogan City Police Station (CPS) in Barangay 06, Catbalogan City, on the evening of June 16, 2026.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Win,” is a 45-year-old married and self-employed resident of Barangay Muñoz, Catbalogan City.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the Catbalogan CPS under the leadership of PLTCOL Norman D. Ala, Chief of Police, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 8 (PDEA-8).
Police said they recovered one sachet of suspected shabu that was allegedly sold to an undercover operative during the transaction. Authorities also seized nine additional sachets of suspected shabu with a combined weight of 0.94 grams and an estimated street value of P6,800.
Other items recovered from the suspect included a marked P500 bill used in the operation, a cellular phone, and a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle.
The suspect is currently detained at the Catbalogan CPS and is facing charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police said the seized substances will be submitted for laboratory examination as part of the investigation.
