TARANGNAN, Samar — A 21-year-old fisherman was arrested after police recovered suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion A, Tarangnan, Samar, on the evening of July 14, 2026.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Sonny,” a resident of the area, was allegedly caught selling and possessing illegal drugs during the operation conducted at around 11:49 p.m.
Police said they recovered two heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu from the suspect. One of the sachets was the alleged drug item purchased during the operation, while the other was recovered as additional evidence. Authorities also recovered the 500 buy bust money.
The operation was carried out by the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Tarangnan Municipal Police Station, led by PMAJ Sandy C. Bautista, Officer-in-Charge, with support from the Provincial Intelligence Unit/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PIU/PDEU) of the Samar Police Provincial Office.
The police operation was conducted under the supervision of Samar Police Provincial Director PCOL Arwin M. Tadeo and in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region VIII.
The suspect remains in police custody as authorities prepare to file charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
