Construction Worker Arrested on Outstanding Theft Warrant in Samar

Catbalogan City, Samar – A 26-year-old construction worker wanted in connection with a theft case was arrested by police in Barangay Maulong, Catbalogan City, shortly after midnight on August 2.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Erwin,” is a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Maulong, and was taken into custody at around 12:15 a.m. after officers from the Catbalogan City Police Station (CPS) served a standing warrant for his arrest.

The operation was led by Police Captain Andres C. Samantila Jr. II under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Norman D. Ala, Chief of Police.

According to police, the warrant was issued on July 10, 2026, by Judge Ameli Amor Rabor Estrada of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court in Liloan-Compostela, Cebu, in connection with a theft case docketed as Criminal Case No. MCTC-10438-L. The court recommended bail of ₱10,000 for the suspect’s temporary release.

Authorities said the arrest was carried out in compliance with established procedures, including the use of an Alternative Recording Device during the implementation of the warrant. The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine before being brought to the Catbalogan City Police Station for booking and other legal procedures.
