Eastern Samar – Governor RV Evardone is prioritizing security and peace throughout Eastern Samar by strengthening collaboration with the 63rd Infantry Battalion (63IB) of the Philippine Army.
On January 28, 2026, 63IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Ricky James L. Rosalejos, along with 2nd Lt. Stephanie G. Pilapil, met with Governor Evardone at the Provincial Governor’s Office to discuss strategies for enhancing security measures across the province.
During the meeting, the Philippine Army reaffirmed its readiness to address security concerns and issues in communities throughout Eastern Samar, emphasizing its commitment to its mandate. This includes continuing the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) initiatives and conducting information drives in schools across the province.
Lt. Col. Rosalejos expressed his gratitude to Governor Evardone for his unwavering support of the Philippine Army, stating, “Thank you, Governor, for your support. We are always thankful for your support to us.”
Governor Evardone highlighted the province’s initiative to establish a government presence, through what he termed “Kapitolyo sa Barangay,” in interior barangays to deter the influence of anti-government groups. This initiative aims to provide direct assistance and services, particularly to remote communities, ensuring that the government’s presence is felt and that residents are not swayed by opposing forces.
