CALBAYOG CITY — A 49-year-old construction worker was apprehended in a drug buy-bust operation conducted late Friday night, April 17, in Barangay Bagacay, Calbayog City.
The suspect, known as alias “Jerry” and a resident of the said barangay, was arrested around 9:20 p.m. by operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PIU/PDEU) of Samar.
PMaj. Juan Carlos S. Recluta, chief of PIU/PDEU, stated that the operation was supervised by Samar Police Provincial Director Col. Arwin M. Tadeo. The team, led by PDEU Samar with support from the Calbayog City Police Station’s Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET), worked in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 8.
During the operation, authorities confiscated one heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu that was sold to an undercover operative, as well as five additional sachets containing shabu weighing a total of 0.671 grams with an estimated value of P4,662.
Additionally, a 9mm firearm, a P500 marked bill used in the operation, and various drug paraphernalia were recovered.
The suspect is currently in police custody as charges are being prepared against him for violations of Republic Act 9165 and Republic Act 10591.
