Calbayog City — Five women from Calbayog City were crowned during the Miss Hadang Festival 2026 pageant, held as part of the city’s annual fiesta celebration.
Micah Sheen C. Comilan was named Miss Hadang Festival Queen 2026. Athea Jelaine P. Ortega won Miss Hadang Tourism 2026, while Cindy Claire L. Pantillo was crowned Miss Hadang Heritage 2026.
Sharmaine L. Porlares was named first runner-up, while Janina Francheska A. Leones placed second runner-up.
For Calbayog City Vice Mayor Rex Daguman, the pageant was not only about the winners.
He said the women who joined the competition showed courage by stepping forward, representing their city and giving their best.
“Beauty is not just in the crown. It’s in the heart that serves, the voice that represents, and the pride of being Calbayognon,” Daguman said.
He also urged Calbayog’s women to continue serving their communities and setting an example for others.
“Padayon, mga kababayin-an san Calbayog!” he added.
The pageant was part of the Hadang Festival, which is held in connection with Calbayog City’s annual fiesta on September 8, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. September 8, 2026 was declared a special non-working day in Calbayog City for the celebration.
The Hadang Festival includes a range of activities, including pageants, cultural presentations, and street dancing, giving local schools, organizations, and residents a chance to take part in the city’s annual celebration.
Calbayog is a first-class component city in Samar and covers a large area of both coastal and inland communities. The Philippine Statistics Authority recorded 187,848 residents in the 2024 Census of Population.
The city is known for its beaches, waterfalls, caves and hot springs. It is also home to historical and cultural sites, including Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral and the Samar Archaeological Museum.
The annual fiesta brings together families, residents and visitors from different parts of the city. For many Calbayognons, it is also a time to reconnect with their community and celebrate their local traditions.
This year’s Hadang queens will now represent Calbayog in various activities as the city continues its fiesta celebration.
