San Vicente, Northern Samar — A successful rescue operation was carried out on February 5, 2026, for a motorized boat that overturned off the coast of Cadulan, Dimasalang, Masbate.
The boat was en route to the San Vicente Island, a coastal municipality in Northern Samar facing the Pacific Ocean along the eastern seaboard of the Visayas, when it capsized in the rough sea conditions with gusty winds and moderate waves. Authorities swiftly responded and safely rescued all passengers.
Despite no reported storm or major weather disturbance, rolling swells, shifting sea currents, and intermittent gusty winds created moderate waves that posed risks to small motorized boats.
Responders from the Philippine Coast Guard in Dimasalang, the MDRRMO Dimasalang first response team, the MDRRMO San Vicente, and the San Vicente Fire Station quickly mobilized to the scene.
The passengers, including residents of Sitio Himomoro, Purok 7, Pinisajan, Masbate, and two individuals from San Vicente, Northern Samar were all rescued without injury and safely returned to their homes after the operation.
There were no injuries reported, and all passengers were safely rescued and returned home following the operation.
