The program, which is already operational in Lawaan, aims to provide students, teachers, and residents with reliable internet access, enhancing opportunities for online learning, research, and quick communication.

According to the LGU of Lawaan, the initiative was made possible through the efforts of Mayor Athene L. Mendros and the full support of Governor RV Evardone.

Free Wi-Fi access is now available at multiple locations, including: LDRRM Office, Municipal Auditorium and Plaza, Municipal Building; Barangay Halls in Poblacion 07, 08, 09, 10, and Guinob-an; (Public Schools) Lawaan Central Elementary School, Betaog Elementary School, Bolusao Elementary School, Taguite Elementary School, Bolusao National High School, and LNSCHI.

Students are encouraged to make use of the service during the day, while access will be limited during night hours until 9:00 p.m., in line with local curfew regulations for minors.

Mayor Mendros expressed gratitude to the DICT for the program, highlighting its role in bridging the digital divide and supporting her administration’s agenda to provide free and equitable internet access for all Lawaanun.

The Free Wi-Fi for All program is a nationwide initiative launched by the DICT to enhance digital inclusion across municipalities and cities.

The program provides funding for installation, maintenance, and network operation, with local governments coordinating site selection to ensure accessibility in government offices, schools, and public spaces.

The program is part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen digital literacy, improve online educational resources, and facilitate seamless communication among residents.
